Palais 1010 Vienna

Private Residency | VIENNA 1010

An apartment in a wonderful old building in the center of Vienna was revitalized. A key criterion for the interior design was to create an excellent combination of the classic style of the elements of a 19th century palace with the impressions of very high-quality modern, timeless living. A uniquely elegant and representative design was created for the living and dining area, the foyer and the work area in a bright, friendly atmosphere and inviting arrangement. In addition, artistic elements were introduced to create an interesting tension with the structural and central style guidelines for the furniture, some of which is modern.

Classic old Viennese buildings in particular are ideal for creating original and extremely charming facets in interior design that can turn living in Vienna into a wonderfully sophisticated experience.

In Vienna's magnificent old buildings, it is tempting to categorically subordinate individual and personal living to the existing style guidelines. Our client, however, wanted to maintain and emphasize the classical guidelines, but still wanted to create an original tension with modern, high-quality lifestyle and artistic elements. 'Living is always an experience in which personal cultural demands can be realized in a spatial context in such a way that an independent and highly subjective statement and presentation can be achieved. Living must therefore animate and tell an interesting story of its own. Thus, elements and objects from their own history, from professional demands, from private contexts and from reflections of the surroundings in the center of Vienna were brought in, creating a connection from the detail to the overall spatial impression within which one finds oneself reflected in all facets.

'These are projects where you don't just have to focus on the practical and necessary - but by creating contexts that interpret an existing character well and developing new impressions out of themselves and creating a new originality,' says Elke Altenberger, 'projects in which I can realize myself very well as an interior designer.
